Based in Benoni, Gauteng, Sinethemba was founded in
response to the urgent and growing need for genuine care and protection for children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected.
This home-based Non-Profit
Organisation provides a safe, nurturing, and family-like environment where children from all backgrounds can begin to heal and rebuild their lives.
Since opening its doors in 2001, Sinethemba has supported more than 250 children—many of whom have survived extreme trauma, including abuse, trafficking, rape, and severe neglect. Today, the home provides full-time care for 26 children, ranging from toddlers to teenagers, supporting them through school, homeschooling, and essential life skills development. This includes support with obtaining driver’s licenses and preparing for independent adulthood.
Sinethemba’s holistic approach
focuses on rehabilitation, education, and the journey toward independence, guiding each child with compassion, stability, and long-term support. Where possible, they also work to reunify children with their families—a delicate and essential process of healing not just individuals, but entire family systems.
